Bluebird Kitchen was founded on the notion that food on the go should be both delicious and exciting. We strive to bring you innovative, fresh cuisine as well as the highest quality beverages from Counter Culture Coffee and Rishi Tea. Serving breakfast, lunch and a selection of desserts in our two cafes, we make everything fresh in house every day, creating a menu that showcases the best of the season and our team’s creativity. We outsource nothing at Bluebird Kitchen; everything we serve is prepared by us in our own kitchen from high quality ingredients that are grown or produced locally when possible, but always from small local purveyors that share our vision for providing the highest quality product available.
In addition to our café service, we offer a full spectrum of catering services as well. Whether for corporate meetings or private functions, we offer delivery and pickup of our full breakfast, lunch and hors d’oeuvres catering menus. Check out our catering page for more details.
Liz Moore- Founder
From a young age, Liz had a passion for food. First eating it, then cooking it, since her mother had the patience of a saint, always allowing her to "assist" in the kitchen. A Pittsburgh native, Liz moved to New York City after college where she discovered the local food scene and that's where the idea of opening a restaurant began to form. After too many years of working in the Corporate world in New York, Liz finally made the decision to return home to open a place of her own, so she came up with an idea. The result is Bluebird Kitchen, the culmination of much dreaming, planning and determination.
Steven Thompson- Executive Chef
Steven's magic in the kitchen began way back when he was studying at Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. From there he moved to various Pittsburgh restaurants, working his way from Chef Tournant at Hyeholde to Executive Chef at Lucca and then on to open Nine on Nine as Executive Sous Chef. During all of this, he did several stints as Stage at various restaurants around the country, and managed to form his own company, Table 33 Consulting, which has led him to work with many local restaurants, most recently as Executive Chef at the Century Inn in Washington, PA. One of Steven's greatest accomplishments, however, has been teaching his dog Ccino to obey commands in French, something he will proudly show off to anyone who has the pleasure of being in Ccino's (and his) company.
